Red Hot Chili Peppers Unveil 'Rain Dance Maggie' Single: Listen

The Red Hot Chili Peppers return -- with a new guitarist and some more cowbell, no less -- with "The Adventure of Rain Dance Maggie," the first single from forthcoming album "I'm With You" that hit the web on Monday (July 18).

"Hey now/ you've got to make it rain somehow," Anthony Kiedis sings on the upbeat funk track, which recalls the group's "Dani California" in tone. Josh Klinghoffer, the band's former touring guitarist who has replaced John Frusciante full-time, fits in nicely on this track, with his screeching riffs contrasting with Flea's bass lines and the use of cowbell at the end of the song.

Due out Aug. 30, "I'm With You" is the group's long-awaited follow-up to 2006's double CD "Stadium Arcadium," which has sold 2.3 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Producer Rick Rubin told Billboard.com last month that Klinghoffer's addition to RHCP changed the group's dynamic on the album: "It sounds like the Red Hot Chili Peppers that you've never heard before," he says.

No word on when the music video for "Rain Dance Maggie" will premiere, but Kreayshawn, the upstart female rapper of "Gucci Gucci" fame, is set to direct the clip.

Lamar Odom involved in a near-fatal car accident

Lamar Odom was involved in a serious car accident in New York on July 14, when his driver hit a 15-year-old boy and a motorcyclist.
Odom was in Jamaica, Queens for his cousin's funeral when the driver of his car service struck the two victims. The basketball player was not injured, but was reportedly visibly upset about the accident.

"Thank you for your support and prayers!" Odom wrote on Twitter on Monday.

MediaTakeOut.com, who first reported the incident, said that the pedestrian and motorcyclist were seriously injured in the crash. Odom's wife, Khloe Kardashian was not in the vehicle.

"Khloe wasn't in the car. It was a driver, and Lamar was in the back seat," Kardashian's publicist told the New York Post.
Odom, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers and is the star of the TV realty show "Khloe & Lamar," married Khloe Kardashian in 2009 after dating for a month. The premiere of "Khloe & Lamar" was watched by an estimated 2.6 million viewers. The ratings were lower than those seen for the January debut of another "Kardashian" series, "Kourtney and Kim Take New York," which attracted 3 million viewers, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Kardashian and Odom, who married in 2009, had told OnTheRedCarpet.com earlier this month that cameras were not off-limits anywhere while filming their new reality show.

'Cash Cab' strikes and kills pedestrian in Canada

A "Cash Cab" taxi struck and killed a pedestrian in Vancouver when a technical staff member was driving the replica cab back to the lot after filming on the Canadian version of the game show wrapped for the day.

The staff member crashed into a 61-year-old man crossing the street and the man died in the hospital soon after the accident Friday, police said. The family of the Surrey man has requested that his name not be released.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his friends and his family," said Andrew Burnstein, president of Castlewood Productions Inc., the production company behind the Canadian version of "Cash Cab."

"My heart also goes out to the driver of the vehicle, a member of our technical staff, who is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, as is our entire team," he said.

There were no witnesses to the crash and charges had not been filed, according to the Vancouver Sun. The driver remained at the scene of the accident and the replica taxi is being held by investigators.

The trivia game show pays out cash to unassuming passengers who correctly answer questions for the duration of their commute. Adam Growe, a comedian and a licensed taxi driver, hosts the Canadian version of the mobile show. He was not driving the cab at the time of the accident, which is reportedly the worst in the show's history.

 The American version of "Cash Cab" is filmed in New York and Chicago and broadcast on the Discovery Channel. Its host, Ben Bailey, has said that he never gets into fender benders.

Miracle of the Day - A modern Lazarus

"A brother in our church who is a severe diabetic was hospitalized after having a stroke. He went into a coma, and the doctors said that they felt he wouldnt live through it. It wasnt soon after they said that, he had a heart-attack and he quit breathing on his own. They had him on dialisis and a breathing machine. Our church decided we would pray together for him, believing a miracle without doubting. Many people from the church went to the hospital and layed hands on him and prayed. Many days went by and the doctors were saying there was no hope, they said that a man who went through these things, would be brain dead. They claimed that since he had blood on the brain, that he would become a vegetable and never recover. The bible tells us that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man, availeth much. I believe that the effectual fervent prayer of many righteous men and women availeth even more. As quick as the doctors were saying that he would be brain dead, he began to breath on his own. Day after day went by and he began to speak, he began to remember, he began to walk, and he began to do all the things that he had done before. The doctors even came to see him, and they said to him, you are a miracle. They were amazed in the recovery that this brother had. We must realize that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He will never change, what He did while He was on this earth, He can still do today. Im not saying that every time you pray for someone that God will raise him from the dead, but if it be the will of God for him to be raised then he will. Dont stop believing in the Word of God, when it says "Whatsoever you ask in my name, I will do it". Keep praying and God can bring a modern Lazarus back to life before your eyes."
