As part of Independence Day activities, the labor department is spearheading a 2-day job fair in Luneta, which ends Sunday. Around 23,000 jobs here and abroad are available in the fair.

Some roads in Metro Manila will be closed to vehicular traffic to give way to Sunday’s events.
The Manila Police District's Traffic Enforcement Unit said the stretch of Roxas Boulevard's north and southbound lane from Katigbak to T.M. Kalaw will be closed from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. for flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies.

Filipino organizations are set to mark the 113th Philippine Independence Day on June 11 by holding the first ever parade along Oslo’s parade street, Karl Johan.

“We are ready to secure all activities for Sunday," Purisima said in an interview on dzBB radio, adding that his office has coordinated with its military counterpart and defined areas of responsibility.
Purisima warned the public that some roads around Luneta may be closed as early as 10 a.m. Sunday.
For now, he said they have not received intelligence information about any plot to disrupt the Independence Day rites.

“We are exhausting all means to provide a vast array of productive and matched job opportunities for everyone," he added.
The job fair is a joint effort of DOLE’s Metro Manila office and of at least 113 prospective employers. It is anchored on the theme, “Kalayaan: Paninindigan ng Bayan."
The job fair reaffirms the heightened partnership among government, industry, and other sectors in generating more job opportunities to ensure workers’ employability and productivity, Cruz said.
It will be held at the left side of the lagoon in Rizal Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Around 8,000 jobseekers are expected to flock to the fair, according to the Labor Department.
“The roster of 83 local employers and 20 land-based and sea-based international manpower agencies and employers will bring about 14,000 local vacancies and 10,000 overseas opportunities to job seekers, including new graduates and overseas Filipino workers ," the DOLE said.
Aside from the licensed local and international employers, government agencies will also offer job opportunities.
These include the Departments of Social Welfare and Development and Transportation and Communications, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Railways, the Philippine Commission on Women, the Civil Aeronautics Board, the Light Rail Transit Authority, and the Civil Service Commission.

The human flag will include about 170 students from the Visayan Maritime Academy who will wear their white uniforms and about a thousand summer jobbers and Philippine Employment Office Scholars, the Visayan Daily Star reported.
“We are expecting a bigger human flag to parade down the city’s main thoroughfares Sunday. Several roads in Bacolod will also be closed starting noon for the parade," said Homer Bais, chairman of Independence Day celebration in Bacolod.
The evolution of the human flag will be shown during the parade, he said, adding that more than 2,000 city employees and residents will join Sunday’s activities.
Capping the parade is the wreath-laying at the monument of the unknown soldier at the Bacolod Public Plaza, to be led by soldiers from the 303rd Infantry Brigade. War veterans will take part in the ceremony, Bais said.
Sen. Francis Escudero will be the guest speaker at the city’s Independence Day rites, the report said.
A tableau presentation on the evolution of Philippine flag to be performed by the MassKara theater ensemble of the University of St. La Salle will highlight the province’s Independence Day celebration.
It will be followed by the Governor’s 3-K and 5-K Freedom run which will go through Lacson Street up to Bata area.
There will also be a cultural show at 6 p.m. at the Bacolod Government Center grounds featuring the Pilipinas Kaanyag Dance Company, West Negros Chorale, and Rondalla.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City police chief Senior Superintendent Ricardo de la Paz said portions of Lacson Street in front of Business Inn up to the Capitol Lagowill be closed to traffic starting at noon Sunday.
Also on Sunday, the Negros Occidental  provincial government will give P450,000 in checks to beneficiaries of the Barangay Insurance program. Gov. Alfredo MaraƱon Jr. and Vice Gov. Genaro Alvarez will lead the giving of the checks at the capitol.
