'War Horse' wins best play Tony Award

NEW YORK – "War Horse" has won the Tony Award for best play. A World War I epic from the National Theatre of Great Britain, the play melded human actors with life-size puppets, creating a visually stunning story about a boy and his favorite horse that left grown-ups in tears.

The play, based on a children's novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted by Nick Stafford, beat out "Good People," "Jerusalem" and "The Motherf---- With the Hat" for the top drama honor.

The show is to tour the U.S. starting next summer.

The Handspring Puppet Company, which created the life-size and lifelike cane-and-plywood horse puppets for "War Horse," had already won a special Tony.

Ricki Lake Sued -- You Burned Down My Beach House!

What does Ricki Lake have in common with the Exxon Valdez? Each is responsible for a super-destructive, wildly expensive oil spill ... allegedly.

Lake is being sued for allegedly making a HUGE mistake with some flammable heating oil ... and causing the fire that burned down the Malibu beach house she was renting back in 2010.

According to the lawsuit filed by the owner of the home ...  Lake was refilling a portable space heater when she spilled the oil on the hot heating coils -- and the oil burst into flames. The fire quickly ripped through the entire property. 

In the lawsuit, filed Monday in L.A. County Superior Court, the owner, Hovsep Kousouyan, claims Lake spoke with emergency personnel who responded to the fire -- and she admitted the whole thing was her fault.

Kousouyan says his beach house was completely destroyed in the blaze -- and wants Lake to pay for all of the damages ... which could be in the millions.

Calls to Lake's rep have not been returned.

Harold Camping

The Oakland Tribune reports that 89-year-old Camping was hospitalized after suffering the stroke Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his Alameda home.

Camping, the Family Radio minister who predicted that Judgement Day will start last May 21,2011 but did not come true, reportedly suffered a stroke.

As noted at Oakland Tribune on Sunday, June 12, Harold Camping was brought to a hospital suffered a stroke on Thursday, June 9, after suffering from a stroke.

According to the report, an identified neighbor of Harold Camping told them that the rapture predictor suffered a stroke and it was on his right side.

“His speech appears to be a little bit slurred but otherwise he’s OK,” the neighbor was quoted as saying, adding that the 89-year old radio preacher spoke to his wife Shirley on Friday.

On Saturday morning, Charles Menut, the regional manager for Family Stations Inc., Family Radio‘s parent company, reportedly posted a Yahoo group message announcing the news to all the supporters of Family Radio.

“Please just pray for him and do not try to contact anyone at his home or Family Radio,” Menut apparently wrote, noting that Camping’s family members are enough to handle the situation.

Menut added that an update about Camping’s health condition may be announced on Monday, June 13, but reports said he remained unreachable for more comments as of Saturday.

Apparently, Harold Camping was mocked after his prediction that “the end of the world will start on May 21, 2011” did not happen, and later said it will be on October 21, 2011.
