Evelyn Lozada was born in Brooklyn, raised in the boogie-down Bronx and is always in a New York state of mind. Raised solely by her mother, this Puerto Rican beauty always aspired to break out of her relatively small world and always dreamt of something bigger and better. Evelyn had her first taste of the entertainment world when she took a job as an assistant to a well known entertainment attorney to the stars and would eventually meet and become engaged to the basketball star, Antoine Walker. Evelyn moved to her adopted hometown of Miami in 2007 and now co-owns Dulce (and dulceshoes.net) an upscale shoe boutique located in Coral Gables, Florida. Dulce now allows Evelyn to live out her childhood dreams of fashion. In addition to being a socialite that supports many charitable causes, Evelyn takes great pride in being a devoted mother and businesswoman. She is highly regarded as a fashionista and style trendsetter. Even before she founded Dulce, Evelyn was photographed not just because of ex-fiancé's game, but because of her own impressive "shoe game".

Candice Crawford

I am graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in broadcast Journalism and a business minor. The Missouri School of Journalism was the first journalism school found by Walter William in 1908. They promise to prepare students not only for careers but also contribute to their development as ethical and productive citizens: we must educate the heart as well as the mind.

The Missouri School of Journalism is where I learned to shoot, write, edit, and produce my own stories, which were aired on the NBC affiliate station KOMU-TV. From health stories to sports stories, I acted as a “one-man-band” bringing Boone County the latest news.

My passion for sports also guided me to the Dallas Cowboys, where I worked as a sports-reporter for their CBS show “The Blitz.” Fighting my way through a male dominated world, I was able to interview key players, coaches, and owners while covering stories from the Cowboys’ newest draft pick to their new stadium.

Recently I teamed up with the popular sports blog Midwest Sports Fans, where I provide commentary about the latest sports news going on in the Midwest. Midwest Sports Fans has a reach of nearly 100,000 visitors per month. At the Candice Crawford featured author page you can links to my regular feature From the Sideline with Candice Crawford, where I have focused so far on the events of the Kansas City Chiefs 2009 off season.

My love for sports journalism derived from my love of playing sports. My high school years consisted of basketball, golf, track and cross-country. Competing in sports translated to competing in pageants, and in the fall of 2008 I was crowned Miss Missouri USA and went on to compete in the Miss USA pageant.

The Miss USA organization strives to break boundaries and define what it means to be a woman in the 21st century. The woman of the 21st century is confident, savvy, disciplined, intelligent, and strong. These attributes are key for the arena of Journalism; and whether competing in sports or pageants, my goal is always to have my discipline, strength, perseverance, and integrity shine through in each endeavor.

The Hangover Part II':

Follow the wolf pack's Thailand trail

After months of anticipation and cast speculation, "The Hangover Part II" finally hit screens in Bangkok this week. For anyone unfamiliar with the film, starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, it is much the same as the previous one: a wedding, a bunch of blokes, alcohol, memory loss and a missing person.
Though instead of Las Vegas, this time it's set in Thailand. According to the film's producer, Dan Goldberg, Bangkok is "the last place in the world that these guys should be, which, of course, makes it the perfect place to send them."

Sure, red light districts may be a cliché here in the City of Angels, so they were bound to have a role in the film. But there are plenty more surprises as you follow the wolf pack on their sick night out.
"The different locations provide an interesting cross-section of the city," says "The Hangover Part II" line producer Chris Lowenstein, of Thailand-based Living Films. "Bangkok is essentially one of the characters in the movie, and we're trying to show how rich of a tapestry it is."
If you are looking to create your own "Hangover" night to forget, here's the insider's guide to the film's Thailand locations and characters. Don't worry, we left out the spoilers.

The Location: Phulay Bay Resort, Krabi Ritz Carlton

The Scene: Wedding for Stu (played by Helms) and fiancée Lauren (Jamie Chung).

The Action: The world's first Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Phulay Bay Krabi has 54 one-bedroom villas with private plunge pools, outdoor baths, 24-hour butler service and the limestone-studded splendor of the Krabi coastal landscape just a Champagne flute's throw away.
Amnesia has never been so pricey nor contracted at such a stunning venue -- online rates starts at 19,550 baht (nearly $650) during low season for a night at this more-than-five-star resort.

111 Moo 3 Nongthalay, Krabi. +66 (0)7 562 8111
The Location: Soi Plaeng Nam, Chinatown
The Scene: Phil (Cooper), Stu and Alan (Galifianakis) wake up the next morning in a dirty hotel in Bangkok sans Teddy (Lauren's brother, played by Mason Lee).

The Action: Down this alley, best reached by taxi, you can still find bird's nest soup or buy some Chinese red lanterns to deck out your home.

Don't try to find the room they woke up in -- those "The Hangover Part II" scenes were filmed on Los Angeles sets.

Zachary Knight Galifianakis

I am from the foothills of North Carolina. I now live in the mountains of that state. And also live in Brooklyn. I come from a strong family. I enjoy tractors and red wine. I feel that living your life in contradiction keeps one confused and happy. I dislike those that litter. Sometimes I like to go to the zoo and ride on the backs of bison. I dream of Iceland from time to time. It makes me laugh when people miscommunicate. I like walking over bridges and hate Donald Trump or anything like him. The entertainment business is both poison and honey. I drive a Subaru. It is an automatic. I cry sometimes in that car. I perform my routines around America.

Acid Reflux Drugs Increase Risk of Broken Bones

The latest word on a certain class of acid reflux drugs, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), have been linked to an increased risk of broken bones when used for over a year and in large doses. PPIs are used by a large segment of Americans. The most common PPIs are Nexium, Prevacid, and Prilosec. Long-term PPI therapy is very common amongst Americans. Antacids are the most popular prescription drug used worldwide with billions of dollars in sales generated every year.

The fractures are most common in the hips, back, and wrists and particularly in older women over the age of 65. This obviously poses an increased risk to the elderly, who are particularly vulnerable to fractures. There is a 29 percent increase for fractures overall, with a 31 percent greater risk for hip fractures specifically and a 54 percent higher risk of spinal fractures. The older generation of acid reflux medication, such as Pepcid and Zantac known as histamine-2 receptor antagonists, has not been shown to be linked to any increase in fractures. The research analyzed a group of 11 different studies to come up with its analysis, which concluded that the drugs either interfere with bone metabolism and possibly the body’s ability to absorb calcium.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has previously put a warning label about fracture risks back in 2010. The FDA will now mandate that modified warning labels be included wherever PPIs are sold. Whoever is currently taking PPIs should consult with their doctor to see if the risk of fracture is worth the reduction in stomach acid symptoms.
The research will appear in the upcoming May/June issue of Annals of Family Medicine.
